Gray Coverage in Chelsea, Manhattan

Book Your Appointment About Single Process Color and Gray Coverage

Dubé New York covers and blends gray at 120 W 25th St in Chelsea with single process color: one formula applied to your regrowth to cover gray fully, soften it, or restore depth and tone. Regulars can book an Express Grey Retouch, which skips the blowdry. New clients start with a complimentary consultation, in person or by video call.

Can gray be covered fully or just blended softly?

Both, and you get to choose. Full coverage takes every gray strand to your chosen shade, so your root matches the rest of your color. Blending lets some silver stay but softens it, so regrowth looks gentler as it comes in and the line between old and new is harder to spot.

Blending often suits people who are tired of the monthly root race. Coverage suits people who want no gray showing at all. Your colorist formulates for the result you ask for, so coverage looks like your own color instead of a flat, solid block. Tell them if your gray tends to grab color stubbornly around your hairline or part, since that changes the formula.

Liza is a strong fit if you want gray blended in a way that grows out kindly: Liza is known for customized color that fits your features, lifestyle and maintenance goals. See Liza's page.

What is the Express Grey Retouch, and who can book it?

It's a root only gray coverage visit without a blowdry, and it's for existing clients only. Once your colorist has a formula on file, you can come in, get covered and head back to your day. First visits are always the full single process color service, so your colorist can see your hair and build the formula.

  • Single process: regrowth only, for new and returning clients.
  • Express Grey Retouch: regrowth only, no blowdry, regulars only.
  • Add an Express Gloss: when your lengths look faded too.

Pricing for each is on the Service Menu.

How do I keep roots in check with a New York schedule?

Book your next visit before you leave, since online booking is open at any hour and your usual slot can fill up. If you're constantly fighting the line, ask about blending instead of full coverage. It buys time between visits.

Tell your colorist what your weeks look like. If you travel often for work, or you have a stretch of events coming, they can time your visits so your root looks fresh when it counts. A little planning keeps you out of emergency appointments the day before a big meeting.

How do I reach the salon from the F, M or 1 train?

Take the F or M to 23 St at Sixth Avenue, or the 1 to 23 St or 28 St at Seventh Avenue. The salon is on West 25th Street between the two, a few minutes' walk from each. The C and E stop at 23 St on Eighth Avenue, the R and W stop at 23 St on Broadway, and the PATH 23rd St station at Sixth Avenue connects from Hoboken and Jersey City. When you're ready, book your gray coverage online.

New York questions

Can I book the Express Grey Retouch on my first visit to Dubé New York?

No. The Express Grey Retouch is for existing clients only, because it relies on a formula your colorist has already built for you. On your first visit, book single process color. After that, you can book the express version when you just need your root covered.

Will gray coverage make my hair look darker than I want?

It shouldn't. Single process color goes on the regrowth only, so your lengths aren't colored again at every visit and don't build up darker. Tell your colorist the shade you want, and they will formulate the root to match your existing color.

Can I move from covering my gray to blending it?

Yes. Many clients start softening gray gradually instead of stopping color all at once. Your colorist can adjust the formula at each visit so more silver shows through over time. A gloss can help blend the transition. Start with a free consultation to plan it.
