When your hair needs more than a refresh
Full and partial lightening work best when your highlights are already in good shape and you want them brightened again. Big Change Lightening is for when that is not the case. Maybe your balayage has grown out and you are ready to go properly blonde. Maybe it is your first time lightening. Maybe it has been a long time since your last color.
In each of those situations the work takes more care. There is more to blend, more to lift and more decisions about placement. This service is booked with extra time built in so your stylist can hand paint the finest details, instead of fitting a large change into a standard appointment.
It is also the service to book before something important. If you have a big event where you want your hair to be perfect, the added time means nothing is left to chance.
Big Change Lightening is performed by Angela, Liza, Yulia, who specializes in couture blonding, and founder Brianne for returning clients.
Why clients choose Big Change Lightening
-
Made for going blonde
If your balayage has grown out and you want to go noticeably blonder, this service gives your stylist room to lift, blend and place color carefully. It is the starting point for a real change, not a small step brighter.
-
Right for your first time
Lightening for the first time means your stylist is working with hair that has never been lifted before. The extra time lets them paint thoughtfully and build a foundation that full or partial lightening can maintain later.
-
Finest hand painted detail
The defining feature of this service is time, spent hand painting the smallest details so the lightening blends into your own hair and your brightness sits exactly where it flatters you, around your face and through the lengths.
-
Ready for your big event
When a wedding or celebration is on the calendar, you want no surprises. This service gives your stylist the space to make placement perfect so your hair looks exactly how you pictured it on the day.
More about big Change Lightening
What to expect at your appointment
Plan for a longer visit than a standard lightening. We begin with a detailed consultation about where your hair is now, where you want it to go and any event date you are working toward. Photos help.
Your stylist then hand paints lightener section by section, taking the time to place the finest details. Once your hair has lifted, it is toned to your chosen shade and finished with a blowdry. Your stylist will map out how to keep it looking this good.
Aftercare and maintenance
A bigger lift means your hair deserves extra kindness afterward. Wash with a gentle shampoo, condition every time, use a heat protectant and keep hot tools on lower settings.
Once your new blonde is established, you usually will not need this service again right away. Full, partial or impact lightening can maintain it, with a gloss or custom toning in between to keep the shade fresh. If anything feels off within one week, let us know for a complimentary correction.
How pricing works
Big Change Lightening reflects the added time and hand painted detail it involves, which is what sets it apart from our other lightening services. The base price depends on the stylist you book, and longer or denser hair may need additional product, which adds to the total. See the Service Menu for current pricing by stylist.
From a Google review
“Such a beautiful and welcoming salon! I’ve been going to Yulia for cut & color services for 5 years now and I cannot say enough amazing things about her! Over time she took my hair from dark brown to blonde while maintaining its health. Not only is she an expert colorist, but she is professional, kind, and thoughtful in her approach to my hair care! 10/10 recommend Yulia & Dubé New York Salon.”

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if I need Big Change Lightening instead of full lightening?
Choose Big Change Lightening if your balayage is grown out and you want to go blonde, if it is your first time, if you have a big event or if it has been a long time since your last visit. If your highlights just need brightening, book full lightening.
Why does this service take longer?
The extra time is the point. It allows your stylist to hand paint the finest details and get placement exactly right, which matters most when you are making a large change, lightening for the first time or preparing for an event.
Can I go from brunette to blonde in one visit?
It depends on your starting color, your hair history and how light you want to go. Some changes happen in one appointment; others are safer over several visits. Book a complimentary consultation, in person or by video call, and your stylist will give you an honest plan.
Should I book this before my wedding?
Yes, if you want your color to be perfect for the day. Book early enough that you can see how the color settles and, if needed, come back for a small adjustment. Your stylist can help you plan the timing.
What do I book after Big Change Lightening?
Once your blonde is established, maintenance usually moves to full, partial or impact lightening, depending on how much brightness you want to keep. A gloss or custom toning between visits refreshes the shade and keeps the tone where you like it.
